Stretch a vortex tube along its axis and it must narrow. Conserving circulation then forces it to spin faster — so stretching feeds the spin, and the spin feeds itself. Pull hard enough and it runs away: vorticity becomes unbounded in finite time, while the energy of the fluid stays finite. That is a blow-up.
